Edit an Activity Type

You can edit an Activity Type's Attributes and properties to adjust how Member Activities are defined and tracked.

Edit Activity Type Attributes

Note: If you are editing one of the default system Activity Types, you can add new Attributes to it, but you can't edit or delete any of its default Attributes. These default Attributes are typically designated with the suffix (system) appended to the Display Name.

To edit the Header and / or Line Item Attributes in an Activity Type:

  1. Select Program from the top navigation bar, then select Activity Types from the side navigation menu. The Activity Types screen is displayed.

  2. On the Activity Types screen, search for and select the desired Activity Type (see Search for an Activity Type for more information on the available search options). The Activity Type Details screen is displayed.

  3. Optionally, add any Header Attributes and / or Line Item Attributes as needed (see Define Activity Type Attributes for more details on this process).

Note: Every Activity Type (including both user-made and default system Activity Types) include a set of pre-defined System Attributes that can't be edited or deleted. These System Attributes contain essential data needed by the Loyalty platform to process Activities, such as the date / time, changes in Metric accrual, and the Member ID. These System Attributes are hidden by default, but you can view them by clicking the Show System Attributes link within the Header Attributes section.

  1. Optionally, to edit the properties of a user-defined Attribute, click the Edit icon in the Action column. The Edit Header Attribute (or Edit Line Item Attribute) pop-up window is displayed. Make any necessary changes, then click Save.

Note: You can change the Add Index and API Visible properties directly from the Activity Type Details screen, without having to open the Edit Attribute pop-up window.

  1. Optionally, to delete a user-defined Attribute, click the Edit icon in the Action column. The Edit Header Attribute (or Edit Line Item Attribute) pop-up window is displayed. Click Delete. A confirmation dialog box is displayed; click Confirm.

  2. Optionally, to reorder the Attributes, click-and-drag on the "handle" to the left of the Display Name, and drop the Attribute in its desired new location.

You must deploy metadata for the Activity Type changes to take effect. For details on how to deploy metadata, see the Deployments screen.

Edit Activity Type Properties

You can edit the basic details of an Activity Type, such as its name or description.

To edit the properties of an Activity Type:

  1. Select Program from the top navigation bar, then select Activity Types from the side navigation menu. The Activity Types screen is displayed.

  2. On the Activity Types screen, search for and select the desired Activity Type (see Search for an Activity Type for more information on the available search options). The Activity Type Details screen is displayed.

  3. Within the header area of the screen, click the Edit icon. The Edit Activity Type pop-up window is displayed.

  1. Optionally, make any necessary changes to the Activity Type properties (see Create an Activity Type for more information on these properties).

  2. Click Save.

You must deploy metadata for the Activity Type changes to take effect. For details on how to deploy metadata, see the Deployments screen.
